What to expect
We offer hot drinks, toys and games and a gentle, safe and relaxed space for your children to play and for you to talk to other mums. We have a no-pressure environment, and here you will find supportive and meaningful connections and an understanding support network. The space is here for what you need - whether you want to come and play with your little ones, sit with a hot drink, partake in some mindfulness crafting such as adult colouring, or talk about your mental health in a secure group: we are here for you.
Who can attend?
Any mums, and their babies and toddlers, who are experiencing anxiety, postnatal or ante-natal depression (with or without a formal diagnosis), or any feelings of isolation, sadness, uncertainty or loneliness. You don’t need to be referred, you can just turn up.
What does it cost?
We ask for a suggested contribution, which goes towards the running cost of the Drop In. However, we strongly believe that finances should never be a barrier for accessing mental health support so, if you are in a difficult financial situation, please contact us to discuss.
Who will be there?
Our sessions are run by Shine mums who have real experience of postnatal anxiety or depression, or any of the challenges that come with new motherhood and are always available to talk. And you will meet other mums going through many of the same things as you, who are also looking for understanding and friendship.
Attending for the first time
We know how nerve-wracking it can be to come to a new group for the first time, and if you’re anxious about it please speak to us beforehand so we can support you and make it feel a little easier. We will always meet you at the door, and get you settled, and can even arrange to meet you in the car park when you arrive so you don’t have to walk in alone.
